Dear Conference Participants
and Supporters,

On behalf of the Institute of Cultural Affairs Nepal (ICA Nepal), I thank you for your support and participation in the 8th Global Human Development Conference held in Nepal from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2. We were proud to have welcomed you and hope that you had a wonderful time. Being part of ICA International, hosting the global conference was our dream for several years. We feel honoured for having been allowed to host this conference in Nepal.
For all the ICAs, the conference enabled us to unite under the umbrella of ICA International with new spirit, focus and strategies for the future. I hope that for others who do not belong to the ICA but care for global human development, this conference provided a global forum to share their work and design their activities.

ICA International, a global network of ICAs working in both developing and developed countries, has over 40 years of experience building human capacities through participation, training and facilitation and setting up community development programmes. ICA International is concerned with the human factor in development.

I am glad to share with you that with your support, ICA Nepal as a part of ICA International has emerged as one of the leading NGOs in Nepal. Since its inception, it has carried out massive development activities transforming thousands of lives in Nepal.

I am sure this conference allowed you to discuss and learn about various issues such as the role of leadership in individual, organizational and community transformation, education, peace and governance, environment, comprehensive development etc. The conference also allowed us to discuss the need for empowered individuals bringing changes in society as well as several cases of human development activities all over the world.

Our main aim at the conference was to design strategies to make the world a livable planet! We believe that by implementing sustainable strategies for global human development, we may achieve our goal of developing the livable planet in the 21st century. Our discussions, opinions and resolutions during the conference will have a long-lasting impact on this.

We thank those who contributed morally and financially to this conference. Support came from many ICA colleagues and well wishers such as Dick and Gail West, Ken Hamje (ICA Peru), Lawrence Philbrook, Jean Houston, Janet Sanders (through Jean Houston Foundation) and Robertson Work. They deserve special mention as it enabled us to host this conference. We hope this kind of support and solidarity remains forever in the ICA family.
